WHO WE ARE

Our purpose at “A Smile for the Sole” is to make a positive difference in the lives of others by providing essential goods and reassuring all donations collected are delivered on a one-on-one basis to communities in need. Our organization was created by teenagers who found a passion for giving their time, their material things, and their love for those less fortunate to ease their everyday lives.

AFTER-SCHOOL SPORTS AND MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

In a continuation of his support for Dominican communities, Sergio Farina won a Legacy Grant from Boston College to lead, develop, and implement a sustainable after-school sports and mentorship program. Sergio found sports to be pivotal to his life whether in developing teamwork and leadership skills, staying active and healthy, or forming life-changing habits of discipline. With the kind donations gathered in conjunction with the aid of Boston College, we have successfully launched this new program. As part of a second phase, A Smile For The Sole committed to building up the infrastructure of recreational sports facilities in the area.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS DRIVE

We spread smiles at the heart of La Romana, Dominican Republic, during every Christmas Season. We make surprise appearances to distribute toys, school supplies, and food to impoverished children in various communities. After collecting these goods all year long, it is heart-warming to see the impact of your donations of goods on this community in need.
Thank you for your support! You surely made their Christmas one to remember!

LA ESCUELA HERMANAS MIRABAL

In the Spring of 2013, A Smile for the Sole pledged to sustain a long-term relationship with La Escuela Hermanas Mirabal, a small school in the Dominican Republic. La Escuela Hermanas Mirabal lacked the fundamental needs of water and electricity, but with the help of Sergio Farina's DJ business, we took on the task of funding and installing the necessary infrastructure to alleviate La Escuela Hermanas Mirabal of their hardship. After many trips to the Dominican, hard physical work, and meetings along the way, we completed our goal!
During the summer of 2014, Sergio worked with engineers and labor workers in the installment of a water well and running electricity. With his passion for music, Sergio spun more than records. He spun the lives of many in the town of Cucama, Dominican Republic.
Let there be light!

Havana

CUBA

In 2012, A Smile for the Sole traveled to communist Cuba with special visas for a mission trip. Since the communist government restricts private education, the Catholic Church provides educational support to many children ages 2 to 5. Through special requests from Madre Teresa in the Archbishop’s office in Havana, we held collection drives in Tampa throughout the year to meet their needs, supplying them with medicine, personal care supplies, and scholastic materials to help over 150 Cuban families.
